  • Dog Name: Papa John
  • Dog Sex: Male
  • Approximate Age: 5 years

Papa John has fun on Dog Days Out of the shelter. Here’s what a volunteer shared:
We pretty much walked around town for 2 hours, good boy, didn’t pull much at all. He loved relaxing in the grass more than anything, I think on his next day off he should go home with someone where he can lounge around on the couch and get belly rubs! Wasn’t into playing fetch or balls but he did enjoy a cheeseburger from McDonald’s!

From another Day Out volunteer:
I loved taking Papa John out today! We went out to the park, got him a puppacino, and took him to his homeland, Papa Johns Pizza! He was super good on a leash and he loves tummy rubs. He is really calm in the car and he loved giving kisses!

And another:
This guy is the definition of a gentle giant. He was content with a short walk, a long nap and just wanted to be as close as he could all day. What a great cuddle buddy.

One more! He was the absolute best!!!! I know there are no perfect dogs but he was just perfect and full of joy and smiles and kisses for everyone.
So so gentle with treats too. I love him.

The dogs are keeping us busy so we’re a little behind, please submit an application to our adoption counseling team for more information about Papa John.

Meeting Dogs at the Shelter

The shelter’s kennels are loud, stressful places for dogs. Some dogs express that stress by exhibiting behavior inside a kennel that they will not show otherwise. Please ask to take the dog you are interested in to a play yard and spend some time getting to know him or her in that more relaxed environment. For more information on meeting dogs at the shelter, please read this article.
